In Ecueillé, a different approach to lighting: A vision, much more than just a project

In Ecueillé, a small town of 1,200 residents, the street lighting system wasn’t simply modernized.

It was reimagined—almost reinvented—with a clear vision: to combine energy efficiency, quality of service, environmental sustainability, and scalability.
Through a comprehensive upgrade of the network to LED technology and the implementation of remote management down to the individual light fixtures, the town is pursuing a clear goal: to make street lighting a tangible driver of regional modernization… and a practical tool for everyday life.

A project driven by a long-term vision

For the town of Ecueillé, this project was about more than just replacing a few pieces of equipment.

It involved a fundamental rethinking of the streetlighting network, guided by a clear vision: making the right choices, both for today and for tomorrow.

For several years, the town carefully considered its options.

There was no question of rushing into it: they needed to understand, compare, visit sites… and above all, make sure they didn’t make a mistake.

The 1st deputy mayor and head of technical services puts it simply:

“This project was very close to my heart.”

So the decision was clear: see the process through to the end, integrating remote management all the way down to the individual light fixtures from the very start.

A demanding, pragmatic approach… but above all, a coherent one.

Because a smart network must be smart down to the finest detail—and in its ability to be finely controlled.

Modernity, energy efficiency, and respect for the environment

Through this project, the municipality is pursuing several closely related objectives: modernizing its network, reducing energy consumption, and adopting a more environmentally friendly approach.

The complete replacement of the old lights with LED equipment, combined with Tegis’s control capabilities, now allows for better management of energy consumption while limiting light pollution.

This is a significant development for the region… but also for nocturnal biodiversity, which is particularly vulnerable to these issues.

Tangible results, monitored and managed

The results are visible and, most importantly, tracked over time.

Thanks to the LX Tegis platform, the municipality can continuously monitor and analyze its energy consumption through a clear, centralized dashboard—a far cry from the old Excel-based tracking systems.

Energy consumption related to street lighting fell from 74 MWh in 2020 to approximately 22 MWh in 2026, representing an energy savings of nearly 70%.

Jean-Michel Rabier – 1st Deputy Mayor and Head of Technical Services

The network itself has been optimized, with the number of cabinets reduced from 13 to 8, thanks to in-depth work led by the municipality.

But beyond the numbers, there is also a sense of satisfaction:

that of having built a coherent, well-managed… and sustainable system.

Flexibility that changes everyday life

What’s really changing in Ecueillé isn’t just the technology.

It’s the way the town is lit.

With Tegis, the town can:

  • adjust light intensity by zone
  • reduce lighting levels by 50% during the middle of the night (10 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
  • quickly detect malfunctions
  • and control the entire network remotely from City Hall

But above all, it can tailor the lighting to actual needs.

“We can really tailor the solution to each situation.

We respond to a request… and by the next day, it’s taken care of.”

Behind this statement lies a very concrete reality: a public service that is more responsive, more refined… and closer to residents..

A network that goes beyond the simple function of lighting

Little by little, the lighting network is becoming a true service infrastructure.

Thanks to Tegis modules and the complementary networks deployed by the municipality:

  • festivals and markets can be easily powered
  • lighting is controlled as needed
  • equipment such as video surveillance can be connected
  • and in the future, the network will be able to support bike charging stations

All these uses demonstrate that a smart lighting network is not just for providing light.

It supports local life… and paves the way for the uses of tomorrow.

A pioneering municipality in its region

Ecueillé stands out today as the only municipality in its department to have a remote management system that extends all the way to the streetlights.

A unique feature that is generating interest… and a certain sense of pride.

Above all, it demonstrates that even a small community can pursue ambitious technological goals—provided it is guided by a clear vision and rigorous implementation.

A Relationship Based on Trust, Beyond the Technical Aspects

Finally, this testimonial isn’t just about performance or technology.

It’s also about relationships.

The municipality highlights a user-friendly solution, a system designed to last… and seamless collaboration with the teams

“You can tell this is a company with a soul.”

A simple, yet essential statement.

Because it reminds us that technology only truly comes into its own when it is built on a relationship of trust, with dedicated teams that are close to the front lines.

“With this solution, we can really create something tailor-made.”

In Ecueillé, street lighting is no longer just a piece of technical infrastructure.

It is becoming a tool that is managed, controlled, and capable of evolving alongside the community.

Proof that even on a small scale, it is possible to make ambitious choices… that are deeply beneficial and prove to be wise…
