Terminals, terminal blocks and electrical protection for jonction boxes

When it comes to street lighting, reliability, safety and durability are mandatory. Terminal blocks and associated protection devices ensure optimum performance and simplified maintenance of lighting systems. Whether for electrical connection management, surge protection or installation safety, these solutions are designed to meet the most stringent requirements, guaranteeing continuity of service and maximum protection for equipment and people.

COPAK terminals and LACROIX terminal blocks

The Copak terminal block has a solid brass body and screws. It’s the essential reference for connecting public lighting installations. Thanks to its unique, patented design, the LACROIX Copak terminal block offers control and flexibility of connection for reliable, secure installations:

  • Reliability: Solid brass block and clamping screw for better clamping, high corrosion resistance and low energy loss.
  • Durability: Each conductor is individually housed and clamped, for a high-quality connection that maintains contact over time.
  • Easy maintenance: Individual conductor disconnection for testing or modification.

LACROIX also offers a complete range of terminal blocks for integration into our enclosures, to suit all customer needs and applications.

LACROIX terminal blocks keep the connection philosophy of COPAK terminals and are compatible with cable cross-sections ranging from 1.5 mm² to 16 mm² and a maximum of 3 network inputs and 4 lantern outputs.

Lightning arresters & Varistors, protection against overvoltage

These devices are increasingly used in public lighting to ensure the safety of LED luminaires, and as a maintenance aid.

There are 2 types of protection:

  • Varistors, which are useful against permanent overvoltages, detect any “phase-to-phase” connection problems or neutral breaks synonymous with temporary or prolonged voltages of 400V.
  • Surge protectors protect LED luminaires against transient overvoltages between phase and neutral or earth.

Circuit breakers, overcurrent and short-circuit protection

Two types of protections are used to protect circuits against overcurrent and short-circuits: fuse disconnectors, and circuit-breakers. They cut off the power supply in the event of a circuit fault.

Earth leakage switch and circuit breaker, people protection

There are two types of personal protection: protection against direct contact and protection against indirect contact.

Protection against direct contact

Protection against direct contact of a person with the active parts of an under voltage installation is provided by insulating the active parts, by installing devices to ensure inaccessibility or distance, by automatic disconnection, or by Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV).

Protection against indirect contact

Protection against indirect contact can be provided by two types of products featuring differential devices associated with an earth connection: differential switches and differential circuit breakers. They are characterized mainly by their sensitivity (in mA), the minimum current leakage value to which the differential.

Automatic disconnection device, for continuity of public lighting

DDAs – Automatic Disconnection Devices – refer to the UTE NF C17-210 guide and are designed for individual equipment of public lighting points. Recommended for mounting on each lamppost, they guarantee continuity of lighting for a row of luminaires in the event of an earth fault in one of them, by temporarily or permanently isolating it from the network without causing the other equipment to go out.
