Water Management in Côte d’Ivoire
SODECI (Société de distribution d’eau de Côte d’Ivoire) is a private company created in 1960. It has signed a public service delegation contract with the State of Côte d’Ivoire for the management of drinking water in 1,200 localities and the wastewater treatment of the city of Abidjan.
The agreement with the State allows SODECI to operate water networks, maintain and renew infrastructure, and manage contracts with consumers.
Key missions entrusted to SODECI :
Operation of groundwater sources with the objective of preserving the resource
Production and distribution of drinking water throughout the national urban territory
Carrying out maintenance and repair work to improve the performance of supply networks
Organizing the collection, transportation, and treatment of wastewater within the Abidjan perimeter…
SODECI operates a 17,000 km network serving 1.2 million subscribers. The installations it manages are increasingly numerous and widespread. The company, always committed to high standards for its clients and in its engagements with public authorities, led its technical managers to turn to modern remote management tools.
To be able to deliver acceptable customer service, we have to move toward remote management solutions. It allows us to optimize water and operating costs, reduce water losses, and optimize the electricity consumption of most motors on our installations.
Vincent GNALLA
Central Technical Director
For many years, SODECI has trusted SOFREL remote management tools. The choice was made for this equipment because of its robustness, ease of installation and use, and its deployment simplicity, notably thanks to the provision of pre-wired cabinets.
Data continuously flows to the CGIO
With its Integrated Operations Management Center (CGIO), SODECI has equipped itself with a powerful control tool to operate its water networks remotely. The control center combines three main functions:
Customer regulation center
Operations scheduling
Infrastructure supervision
From this center, it is possible to control all operating parameters of drinking water and sanitation installations, including plants, boreholes, and wastewater lift stations. The monitored network includes 428 sites equipped with SOFREL, which send data to the center via GSM.
All anomalies in water quality, pressure, and operation are immediately detected by SOFREL equipment and displayed on the center’s supervision screens. The operator on duty is responsible for notifying the relevant personnel for maintenance. An SMS alarm can be sent directly to maintenance teams.
